He Knows My Name
Dear Michelle
We are praying for you and your family! Be strong and courageous in Christ. We can take heart in knowing we have a Father, our Maker, who knows us, hears us and loves us more than we ever know. Here is another song for you: "He Knows My Name."
I have a Maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in his hands
I have a Father
He calls me His own
He'll never leave me
No matter where I go
He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And He hears me when I call

Updates .. Praise God..
The results of the scan showed that the sizes tumour has remain almost the same. When he listened to her breathing, the doctor commented that she is doing well. Also, she has been able to exercise for an hour a day in the morning with her mum with no issue. This is a very good progression from the start where she could only walk for 15 mins.
As a precaution, the doctor has asked her to go through another round of chemo - 2 cycles; ie 42 days. That started last tuesday. Yesterday, she went for her regular blood test. Her main organs; liver and kidney are doing fine. Praise God.
Let's continue to keep her and her family in prayer.

Believing God
Just a reminder that Michelle is going for her scans this Saturday and Ray is going for a surgery to remove 2 lumps on his thigh. According to the doctor the lumps are not a cause for any concern.
Let's press on and journey with her in this journey of faith.
Psa 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of Jehovah forever.
Eph 1:19-20 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us, the ones believing according to the working of His mighty strength which He worked in Christ in raising Him from the dead, and He seated Him at His right hand in the heavenlies,

Our God is a Marvellous God
Thank you so much for praying. Last chemo was painless. However, it was trying in other ways. She was not able to sleep and experienced some side effects. After struggling a while in prayer asking God to help her to sleep, she received the peace from God and was able to sleep. She woke up just in time to when the chemo ends. Isn't our God a marvellous God?
She has been attending services at Lighthouse church in Tampines on Saturday and Sunday. Praise God for the input. She is a continual source of encouragement to me as she shares about the word of God. Praise God!
Currently, she her only side effect is the rashes which has improved. Praise God!
Aidan is still coughing and having bronchitis. Please pray for him.
She is going for her blood test tomorrow(6 Oct) to check that her kidney and liver function are ok. On 18 Oct, she will be going for scans to see the progress of the treatment. Before they prescribe any more chemo for her.
Her verse for today: Col 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things.

Jesus You Are My Healer
For it is written: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost. (Rev 21:6) I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." (Rev 22:13). Jesus has the final say, He has the final word not the doctor nor any scientific research. God is a Healer. It is His nature to heal. He has revealed Himself as "I am the Lord Who Heals" (Exodus 15:26). It is as natural and easy for God to heal as it is for you to breathe. When Jesus walked the earth, He perfectly represented the will of God. He spent a large part of His time healing the sick. In 1 Peter 2:24, it says "who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness by whose stripes you were healed." Let us lean upon His love and hold fast to the WORD, Jesus Christ, as we believe and pray for Michelle.

As we speak our Father's word of grace which is sown in our hearts, this cancer shall pass over Michelle and she shall be healed.
Remember the song: "In the midst of the storm the wind and the rain. You'll still be faithful, O Lord!" Let's keep faith with God and boldly proclaim His faithfulness over Michelle.

Prayer request
Just visited her. She is feeling weak. This is the middle part of the 21 day chemo cycle where she is suppose to be weakest. The burning sensation is not a usual side effect.
Last night Aidan fever was high. Keagan seems to have catch the virus from Aidan and is down with fever too this afternoon. The 2 boys really wanted to go close to mummy but can't.
Do continue to pray for her and encourage her. Let's continue to be there for her. Because the boys has been sick, the family has not been resting well. Her father travels everyday between her place and her brother's place to help look after the boys.
Let's pray for healing for the 2 boys. Strength for the family members as they look after the 2 boys and her. Let's continue to trust God for Michelle's healing.
Let's continue to trust that God's redemptive purposes that is far greater than what we can imagine will be accomplished. He is the God of the how much more. Let's come boldly before his throne and ask for grace and mercy and seek His face.
Thank you for praying and press on!!

You Are My Hiding Place - Psalm 32:7
Wee Foan,
My friend from the International Japanese Church Singapore (IJCS), Kuniko Wall, will upload her posts soon. She is the lady whom I mentioned to you last week. We met today in church, she told me as she read the blog, she understood what you are going through as the treatment is somehow similar. She said taking daily walks are important, try to make it everyday if possible. I'll leave it to her as she relates herself and shares with you her experiences. She may introduce a friend of hers to you if opportunity arises.
Here is a song for you. Be strong and continue to rest in His perfect love for you! Declare together with the psalmist: "You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. 你是我藏身之处;你必保佑我脱离苦难,以得救的乐歌四面环绕我。" Psalm 32:7

God Will Make A Way
Wee Foan,
There is nothing too difficult for Him! Yes, God will make a way, where there seems to be no way. Rest in the truth of His love as you listen to this song. My family is praying and trusting with you through this period. Take heart and be courageous, may the love of Jesus surround you and your family, for His perfect love casts out all fear.
By His grace,

Press on...and take time to rest and focus on GOD
All that I am, all that I have
I lay them down before you, oh Lord
All my regrets, all my acclaims
The joy and the pain, I'm making them yours
(Chorus)
Lord, I offer my life to you
Everything I've been through
Use it for your glory
Lord I offer my days to you
Lifting my praise to you
As a pleasing sacrifice
Lord I offer you my life
(Verse 2)
Things in the past, things yet unseen
Wishes and dreams that are yet to come true
All of my heart, all of my praise
My heart and my hands are lifted to you ...
We' ve come a long way together, Wee Foan ...
Dearest Wee Foan,
I have just had a walk down memory lane with Eng Hai .... Indeed we've come down a long way together! Remember those days filled with the Spirit, how we dared believe God for everything and anything? Remember how we used to pray together and handled the 'persecutions' that came your way with faith?
As you fight the batter against cancer together, know that you are not fighting it alone .... we are with you too! We know that we have a God who "is able to do so much more than we can ever ask for or even think of!" Eph 3:20
We ask and we receive, even now, your complete healing, in Jesus' most precious name!

My Condition and Prayer Request
As you may have already read about the treatment I am going through and its side effects.
After the first treatment on Tuesday, I tend to feel tired easily. Every morning, together with my mum, will go to the park walk for 30mins as a form of exercise. Thank God for the strength. Last evening (3rd day after treatment), I had slight fever and loose stool. Guess the side effect is surfacing gradually.
The next appointment is on 16 Sep (Tue). Draw blood to test liver and kidney function.
My greatest phobia now is the needle. So many bruises on both arms.
Ray's brother is bringing me to Lighthouse Miracle Service this Saturday evening.
Both my sons are getting better now. PRAISE GOD!
Let's join me to pray that:
- Nurse (Joanna) will have patience and skilled when inserting needle into the vein
- I will not feel tense so it will be less painful and vein will not shrink
- Blood drawing and infusion of medicine through the vein will be smooth
- No severe side effects
- My body will response well to the medicines
- No obstacles shall deter me from going to Saturday service
- I will not catch other diseases in large crowds as immune system is low
- Tumours be gone
Thanks so much for your love and prayer support! I can truly feel the God's love and peace. God remind me of this song.
God will make a way
When there seems to be no way
He works in way we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength
For each new day
He will make a way
He will make a way
Although sometimes I will feel fearful, I am learning to cast all my cares to Jesus to delivery me through this tough moments.
Tired liao, need to rest........

About My Treatment
I have gone through the first treatment on Tuesday (9 Sep) - Targeted Therapy.
Targeted Therapy has 2 types of drugs
1) Tarceva : Taken orally daily. Slows or stops the growth of cancer cells
Possible side effects
- Rash - face, neck, chest, back and arms
- Diarrhoea
- Mild nausea and vomiting
- Eye irritation
- Cough, shortness of breath
- Sore mouth
- Tiredness (fatigue) and general feeling of weakness
2) Avastin : Slow infusion into a vein (Once every 3 weeks). Stop some cancers from developing new blood vessels. This reduces the cancer's supply of oxygen and nutrients, which causes the tumour to shrink, or at least to stop growing.
Possible side effects
- High blood pressure
- Skin rashes and itching
- Fever or chills
- Loss of appetite
- Muscle cramps and painful limbs
- Dehydration
- Diarrhoea
- Anemia because of low red blood cell count
- Increase risk of infection because of low white blood cell count
- Increase risk of bleeding because of low platelet count
The above side effects are due to a reduction in bone marrow function. The effects can begin 7 days after treatment. The Full Blood counts usually reach its lowest point at 10-14 days after chemotherapy. It will then increase steadily and return to normal within 21-28 days. The degree of changes of your blood counts also depends on the dosage of the drug and other combination drugs that is taken together.
Less common side effects
- Pain in the area of the tumour
- Slow wound healing
- Nausea and vomiting
- Dizziness on standing
- Numbness or tingling in hands or feet
- Constipation
- Diarrhoea
- Circulatory problems
- Headaches
- Loss of appettite
- Tiredness and a general feeling of weakness
- Changes in the way heart works - chest pain, difficulty breathing, and swelling of the ankles (water retention)
- Reproductive organs may be affected by your drug treatment. This may cause birth defects.

Who Am I
"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand." (John 10:27-29)

John 15:9
"As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love."
What is a love break? It is the time you take to enjoy and feed on the love of Jesus for you. At any time during the day, wherever you are, find a quiet spot and feed on Jesus’ love for you. Just sit down and talk to Him. Say to Him, “Thank You, Jesus, for loving me. Nothing is going to happen to me that You don’t already know. Jesus, when I could not save myself, You died for me. You gave up Your life for me. What else will You not do for me!”

Reach out to the Son
While many came and prayed through your situation at home, we are more blessed at the receiving end rather than at the giving end. This is because we saw the Hand of the Lord at work in your life and in your family. We believed that the Lord is using this situation to bring you and your family closer to God. I'm also seeing that the Lord has brought us together once again and united our hearts in prayer. Indeed, Jesus is the author of our faith as He continues this chapter in our lives as we remembered His Grace and Mercy toward each one of us.
"Prayer is not an easy way of getting what we want, but the only way of becoming what God wants us to be." - Anonymous
Persevere on. Travail in prayer. He is making something beautiful before our very eyes.
Jesus, Lover of My Soul. Reach out to the Son as the sun-flower reaches to the sun. The pot of sun-flower that dances with the breeze on my air con ledge never turns its back to the sun. Wonderful isn't it?

Michelle's prayer request
Pray that there is no fever, enough blood count.
If not cannot start treatment.
Pray that can respond well to treatment, no severe side effect.
Most of all, pray for miracle to happen that the tumors will be gone,
I don't need to go through chemotherapy...
If not cannot start treatment.
Pray that can respond well to treatment, no severe side effect.

Trust In Him

Dear Michelle,
As I was praying for you, these words came upon my heart...
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. Psalm 28: 7
And I'd like to encourage you with this song..
Hold me close
Let Your love surround me
Bring me near
Draw me to Your side.
And as I wait
Ill rise up like the eagle
And I will soar with you
Your Spirit leads me on
In the power of Your love ....

Early Supper @ 4pm on Tuesday
Chin Soong and Paul visited Michelle before we did, they left at 2pm. Lavonne, Ada and I were there from 3pm. We talked of the good old days. Michelle commented that CL (who visited her a few days earlier) looked fit and healthy, particularly with his rosy cheeks. Lavonne cleared the myth by saying the rosy cheeks could be due to high blood. (CL, hope you are not offended, I've tried my best to protect your privacy by using only initials).

The patient, an auntie with tattooed eyebrows (refer to figure eyebrow column 3, row 3), whose bed is next to Michelle was complaining to us that the nurses had been taking her blood a couple of times every day. I told her the nurses might have mistaken that she was there for blood donation. She laughed, we laughed, Michelle laughed. The laughter could not conceal the fatigue embodied, Michelle felt weak and she perspired whenever after taking her medication for fever.
Ai Leng was worried when Michelle did not reply her SMS that day and we found out that she forgot to hit on the "send" button. Ai Leng, thanks for keeping us updated that we may pray with focus.
Lavonne printed the entries of this blog and placed them in a folder, which looks antique (but in perfect conditon) and I suspected it could one of the folders she used for her assignments during her Uni days. To find out more on the antique or rather unique folder, ask Michelle to show you when you visit her.
At 4pm, four of us took the Lord's Supper, proclaiming Jesus... "who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness — by whose stripes you were healed." (1 Peter 2:24) After which we prayed and anointed her with oil. In fact, Michelle looked mich better as compared to last Thursday. Brothers and sisters, let us not continue in our prayers (pray against the spirit of fear as she mentioned it to us that day, "我有时很怕..."), spiritual and emotional support for Michelle, knowing that "since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." (Hebrews 4:14-16)

Ray, here's a song for u: "Your Grace Is Sufficient"
Hi Ray,
This is Eng Hai, we've met while we stayed in Telok Blangah Crescent, that was a decade ago. You were staying in Block 21 then. I've a kid just a day younger than your second boy, what a coincidence! When the going gets tough, look up to HIM, through the wind and the waves, HE is faitherful. We are supporting you and your family in ways we know how. Here is a song for you!
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.(2 Cor 12:9)

Pray as the Spirit leads you
Jocelyn, has done a good summary. Just to add, the nurses take her blood pressure hourly during the day and 2 to 3 times in the middle of the night. Her sleep is definitely interrupted.
Pray as the Spirit leads you to intercede. Seek Him. Ask Him to show you what to pray for her.
As for me this song came to my mind more than once...
Your grace is sufficient for me
Your strength is made perfect
When I am weak
All that I cling to
I lay at Your feet
Your grace is sufficient for me
I'm no longer striving
To merit Your love
I rest in Your promise to me
That all of my sins have
Been washed in Your blood
Your mercy is all that I need
You see me as righteous
Because of the blood
That made the atonement for me
Your mercy has triumphed
Where I should be judged
So now by Your grace I am free
Your Grace Is Sufficient

Kenneth Visit on Sunday
We were quietly confident of better things to come for the family as we come away from visiting her this eve. Before we left, we prayed for the couple to be strengthened by His supernatural peace and to be bound together in love and understanding through these challenges. We are hopeful that the many prayers that were uttered, by so many of you, in faith and in His perfect will, will move our heavenly Father to show His mighty hand of healing and testimony in her family. Keep those prayers going and postings going.
Btw, I thought all these wonderful encouragements written in this blog will not find its way to her if she does not know it exists! She does now. Cheers

Monday 10am - Praise updates from Michelle
Wonderful praise report!
No pain at all during the removal of tube and insertion of medication.
During that time, she saw the vision of a big hand over her chest!
Nurse was amazed to hear that she didnt experience pain and
exclaimed that Michelle must have a high threshold of pain!
For all of us who know this girl - she scrimped at the slightest pain!
The Lord must have cushioned her from pain!
Yeah..yeah..
The Lord is loving, kind and merciful.
Friday nite, she felt lead to pray together with Ray, her charming prince.
She felt a sense of warm, very warm presence coming upon her body.
Not knowing if Ray felt that too, she only saw her charming prince teared.
May the Lord touch this couple!
Sunday night, Ray initiated to pray with Michelle!
Hey guys & gals!
CT bone scan report just out - CLEARED!
Praise Jesus!
LATEST REQUEST
Today minor operation to remove lumps may be risky.
Doctor performing ultra-sound guided biopsy to remove the lumps under armpit.
Because of the initial drainage tube inserted to drain out the accumulated fluid,
few days ago doctor inserted medication to seal up the hole between the lung and the chest.
Also to prevent fluid from accumulating in the lung again.
That's why she have frequent fever for the past nites.
Once the hole is sealed and lung do not accumulate any more fluid, she can be ready for chemotherapy.
Pray for speedy sealing of the hole between the lung and the chest.
That fluid do not accumulate in the lung.
Many thanks and love from Michelle.
Keep keeping her in prayers.

Hi Wee Foan,
I was praying for you one day on my way to work and i started praying in tongues. It had been some time since I prayed in tongues. I was burdened for the situation you are facing... but God is faithful all the time. I prayed for quite some time and I believe that God has heard all our prayers and intercession.
I began to give thanks to God and the burden in my heart started to lighten. We were all taught to persist in prayer and to never give up because of His great love toward us.
Our Lord is a jealous God and He invites us to have an exclusive relationship with Him. Would you come away and spend some time with Him?
Time of Refreshing
Here in Your Presence
No greater blessing
Than being with You
My soul is restored
My mind is renewed
There is no greater joy Lord
Than being with You

Tuesday, 26th August - Song of Praise & Worship!
Tuesday, 26th August after visiting Michelle in hospital.
Was on my way home, driving and thinking about Michelle and the things that happened.
So shocking and unbelievable......
Gently, this song just arose from within...........
In His time, in His time.
He makes all things beautiful in His time.
Lord please show me everyday.
As You're teaching me your ways.
That You'll do just what You say.
In Your Time.
The word 'beautiful' just dawned on me.
How to see beauty in this situation?
But the songs goes on to proclaim,
that God makes ALL things BEAUTIFUL in HIS TIME.
After this song, the 2nd song that arose was,
We are together again!
Just praising the Lord.
We are together again in one accord.
Something good is going to happen.
Something good is in store.
We are together again.
Just praising the Lord!
This song talks about - togetherness, praising the Lord,
being in one accord & something good going to happen.

Dear beloved brothers and sisters,
All of us have gone away from each other.
Many are worshipping in different churches.
Some in their home, some in their room...heheh
Wherever we are, we all share the same fellowship.
Some left because of circumstances.
Some because of differences in our thoughts, our theories, our whatever..
Some because of the dryness of our walk with God.
Some because of disappointment with God, with people (Oh! please don't stone me for saying that)
Whatever it is, does it really matter on the differences?
We have one common denominator!
We are One in the body of Christ.
One in the bond of His love
We have joined our spirits with the spirit of God.
We are one!
We can't understand the happenings but let's press on in one accord!
Praising the Lord for the good that is going to happen.
Faith is never easy but we stand in His faith, not ours.
When we are weak, He is strong in us!
Whatever happens, let's believe all things will eventually work out for the good
of those who love Him.
Blessed Sunday.

Testimony by Ching Soong
I am ching soong. My father was 76 and had cancer of lymph node in 2004. Doctor said it's quite hopeless - stage 3. I told him about Church of our Saviour prayer room. My dad refused to go until he found out that there is no more chemo or other medical treatment workable for him. He finally looked to God. He was then healed by the grace of God. He is still alive and well today at age 80. God has a purpose for each of us. Though my dad backslided the very next day he accepted Christ at the church, Christ was merciful and faithful to heal him and continue to keep him healthy and safe. God is gracious. Though you feel you drift too far but the Father waits expectantly for the prodigal child to return and RUNS to hug His child. Luke 15:11-24
Saturday - Sms from Michelle requesting for prayer
The fever is backed because of the medication inside the lung, trying to seal up the walls of the lungs and chest causing the inflammation. This will cause fever, pain and breathlessness. Since 2 days ago, doctor stop giving antibiotic as they want to see my reaction to this. Let's pray for no gastric, good appettite to build antibodies to fight. Next Monday, going to remove the lump in the right breast and gland under the right armpit to test if they are cancerous. Let's pray that it is not.
Refuge

Visted Michelle on Friday night.
Found out from her earlier that a lump was seen in the mammogram (right side). Heard from Ada that there were three more found in the lymph nodes in her right armpit. Unlike the right lung where the confirmation of cancer cells was through the large amount of fluid drawn out (fluid was found in her lung which is why she felt breathless), these lumps will have to be confirmed by biopsy.
Ray had earlier mentioned that the lung cancer is around stage 3. If these lumps (outside the lung) are indeed proved to be cancerous, then the cancer stage would be more advance (stage 4 - meaning that it has spread beyond where it originated).
All these need to be confirmed before the medical professionals could advise the best course of treatment.
Saw Michelle. She looked calm.
She shared that when she was listening to the songs the night before, she saw a vision - a figure like Jesus embracing a little girl. The song, which she found out later, is 'Refuge'.
Let's pray that GOD will continue to minister to our dear sister. That there will be no fear. That her fever which usually comes in the evening will stay away. Pray for her little boys, aged 4 years and 11 months, that they will be good.Pray for Ray, a pillar of strength to Michelle, to continue to stay upbeat and strong. Pray for Michelle's parents to come to know the LORD....
Psalm 91: 2 - I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

The Lord's Supper on Thursday Evening
Together with Michelle, Lavonne and Francis, we took the Lord's Supper in the evening, confessing the resurrection life of Christ. His body was broken that our body may be whole, it is not how perfect our faith is but the perfection of His work at the cross that opens the way for us to approach His throne of grace with boldness. We anointed her with oil. In the evening she felt better as the fever left, we talked and she smiled. Let us continue to hold firmly to the hope that we confess without wavering, for the one who made the promise is faithful.(10:23)
Let us pray that the fearful expectation of judgement be removed instead Michelle will hold fast to the belief that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Rom 8:1).
Let us pray with a positive expectation! Holding on the His living Word that says: But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. (Rom 8:11)

Friday Update
They discovered 3 lumps on the lymph nodes near the arm pit. Bone scan results will be out on Sunday. Continue to pray for her and her loved ones as they go through this trying period.
Praise God for the painless tube removal. Praise God too for revealing Himself to her.

God's Timing
Michelle and I were out of touch for some time. In the month of July, I received an sms from her asking me out for lunch. She had just quitted her job then and was working at a company next door.
We had a good time catching up. The question we (even when meeting up with Karen) never fail to ask is 'who are you in touch with' and 'how is so and so'. These 'so and so' you (those reading this blog) would all know who we are referring to. Somehow, somewhere in our heart, these 'so and so' are still dear to us and have a special place on our hearts.
In August, when I touched down at Changi Airport, I received another sms from Michelle, to do lunch. As I was just back from Beijing, I thought I may not be able to do so...with so much work waiting for me. Thank GOD... I went...
Last week, I received a call from Siew Wah...
I didn't inform many...
Lavonne ran into Ada...somehow we manage to link up
HE knows the support that Michelle needs.
Michelle : Remember the 'Footprints in the Sand'....We know our GOD will carry you through during these difficult period...

A Brief Introduction
This blog is set up for the purpose of posting updates and prayer requests for our dear sister Michelle.
Michelle is diagnosed with lung cancer. She is currently in the hospital going through more tests. So far liver, kidney and brain are ok. She requested for prayer for children safety, husband to be able to juggle between work, hospital, children and parent. She sensed strength and felt peace. Certain time very upset when she thinks of uncertainty and treatment ahead.
I will leave Lavonne and Jocelyn to fill in more details.
